Laudato Si, Community Resilience, and Empowerment
I’ll be presenting on Wednesday, July 19, at 8:00 p.m. EST, along with Rev. Tena Nock of HOPE (Tampa, FL) and Fr. John Bauman, SJ, of Faith in Action International on a fascinating panel reflecting on community resilience and empowerment in the struggle for ecological justice in light of Pope Francis’ book, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home. People of faith across the nation are invited to this summer’s “Laudato Si’ and the U.S. Catholic Church: A Conference Series on Our Common Home,” a virtual gathering on Catholic ecological teachings and practices to be held over a series of evenings from June 14th - July 27th, 2023.
This year's conference will focus on a deeper understanding of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform’s seven goals – Response to the Cry of the Poor, Ecological Economics, Adoption of Sustainable Lifestyle, Ecological Education, Ecological Spirituality, Community Resilience and Empowerment, and Response to the Cry of the Earth.
The biennial conference series is co-sponsored by Creighton University and Catholic Climate Covenant to equip and inspire Catholics to more deeply integrate Laudato Si’ and its creation care teachings into the U.S. Church.
